For me, the Niños de María Foundation has been more than support, it has been a second home. They helped not only to educate my children but also to strengthen me as a mother in the most difficult times.
When we had nothing, the Foundation supported my family and me, educated us well, and taught us to respect people, to believe in a better world. To fight for ourselves and to count on the 'virgen mamita' who takes care of me. Now I work as a teaching assistant, and it is very beautiful to teach.
We discovered wonderful things, we realized that we were not only contributing to educating a child but also to transform them integrally, to change their harsh reality into a being of hope with a desire to fight and above all with a self-esteem much higher than most children living in that economic and emotional reality so complex.

At the Niños de María Foundation, we offer more than education: we provide a second chance to children who, without our intervention, might find themselves aimlessly on the streets, exposed to the violence and neglect that unfortunately prevails in the poorest areas of Ecuador. Our commitment is to those children who have been marginalized, even abused, in other institutions, and to those who face adversity and violence in their own homes.
Niños de Maria Foundation began its journey in 1994, welcoming 11 children with a dream of education and growth. Over the years, with the support of countless families and companies, we have expanded our capacity to provide about 300 children annually with quality education, along with fundamental care in food and health. In 2022 we started Friends of Maria in the US (501c3), which allows us to finance our programs in Ecuador.
